Ritual Head, 1976

Bronze

304.8 cm (W)

Bow Valley Square, Calgary, AB

An example of Etrog’s hinges period, Ritual Head, is a piece that re-enacts one of the main conflicts at the heart of Etrog’s oeuvre: the tension between movement and stillness. The two “wings,” which are attached to a central pole by two sets of double hinges, contain a potential for movement that cannot come to fruition.
